Na Fianna faced Ferbane/Belmont in the league final in Mountbolus on Wednesday evening. Both teams had previously played an entertaining and closely contested game which Ferbane/ Belmont edged by three points earlier in the season, so hopes were high for a repeat in the final.
Na Fianna played with the aid of a strong breeze for the first half and Finn Murray opened the scoring with a well taken point from play. Ferbane equalised soon after from a free. Na Fianna scored some fine points from play from Sean Dillon and Finn Murray to open up a lead of 6 points to 3 point. A point and goal for Ferbane/Belmont in quick succession meant the lead changed hands. Ferbane/Belmont had a purple patch, forcing a fine double save from Martin Conroy but also added four more points to Na Fianna’s two before halftime leaving the score at the break:

Ferbane/Belmont increased their lead immediately after the break with another goal. Na Fianna came back into the game in terms of possession but spurned their scoring chances from play and from frees. In the last quarter, Na Fianna tried hard to get back in the game but a late goal for Ferbane/ Belmont sealed a well deserved win and the league title.
